Bruxism Influence on Volume and Interleukin-1β Concentration of Gingival Crevicular Fluid: A Preliminary Study

نویسندگان

چکیده

Bruxism is occlusal behaviour that often leads to stomatognathic system overload. Inflammatory markers in the periodontium are detectable gingival crevicular fluid (GCF). GCF production fluctuates due various factors. Our study aimed assess effect of tooth clenching or grinding on volume and proinflammatory IL-1β concentration GCF. This pilot was carried out 20 participants aged 21 28 with good general health (per 10 people studied control groups). measured Periotron 8010 after absorbing for 30 s PerioPaper strips. Twelve samples were collected from each patient—the buccal lingual surfaces teeth 16, 11, 24, 36, 31, 44 included. Laboratory examination performed. In patients pathological wear, a tendency increase secretion found. volumes higher posterior teeth, while levels anterior teeth. Crevices at molars seem have potential predictive value diagnosing periodontal microinflammation probable bruxism. Due overload, these bruxists more prone microinflammatory processes periodontium. Further studies broader group required confirm this correlation.

Comparison of Interleukin-1β Levels in Gingival Crevicular Fluid and Peri-Implant Crevicular Fluid and Its Relationship with Clinical Indexes

OBJECTIVE Interleukin-1β (IL-1β) is one of the most important cytokines which seems to have an important role in the inflammatory process in gingival and peri-implant tissues. The aim of this split-mouth study was to investigate the relationship between the concentration of IL-1β in gingival crevicular fluid (GCF) and peri-implant crevicular fluid (PICF) and clinical parameters such as plaque i...

The Effect of Tobacco Smoking on Gingival Crevicular Fluid Volume

OBJECTIVES The negative effects of smoking on periodontal health are well known. But the mechanism is not clear yet. The aim of the present study is to investigate the effects of smoking on gingival crevicular fluid (GCF) volume. METHODS The study included 26 age and gender matched periodontally healthy males. Half of the participants were smokers and the others were non-smokers. After period...

Influence of smoking on clinical parameters and gingival crevicular fluid volume in patients with chronic periodontitis.

BACKGROUND Tobacco smoking is regarded as one of the most significant risk factors for the development and progression of periodontal disease. In particular, studies have shown an alteration in Gingival Crevicular Fluid (GCF) volume and its components in smokers. OBJECTIVE The purpose of this study was to compare the GCF volume in smoking and non-smoking Saudi subjects with chronic periodonti...

Effects of Non-Surgical Periodontal Therapy on Gingival Crevicular Fluid Levels of Interleukin-17 and Interleukin-23 in Patients with Periodontitis: A Clinical Trial

Background and Aim: Considering the critical role of inflammatory responses in periodontal disease, knowledge about the immune system and cytokines seems nec-essary. The aim of this study was to evaluate the level of IL-23 and IL-17 in gingival crevicular fluid (GCF) of patients with chronic and aggressive periodontitis, before and after non-surgical periodontal therapy. Materials and Methods:...
